Just purchased a '92 Aerostar EB AWD with a flashing airbag idiot light. The code is a 34, what does that translate to? On the whole, are these problems usually cured by the replacement of the sensor (which is not cheap), or whole airbag replacements (which is outrageous)? As far as I know, the van has never been hit.
Also, from the threads I have read, I understand that there is an AWD light that comes on when the unit is engaged? I have not seen one on my van, guess I'll check the owners manual on that....
Finally, the tranny was shifting hard going from 2nd to 3rd and at highway speeds if you kicked it into overdrive (between 70 and 80 MPH), it downshifts and looses speed. If you let off on the gas it's shifts normally and you regain speed. I had it in the shop and my mechanic added an "additive" stating that a solenoid may be getting stuck. Seems to have helped on city driving, but still touchy on the highway. Any thoughts?
