Just realized I need to smog my truck this year, March. Peoples republic of California. Over $300 for reg plus smog for a ten year old truck. Gotta love it.

Every year it has to be tested? So I guess it like my inspection sticker I get in the mail for only $10 a year! Haha! But every state has it's ups and downs though.
I think they are testing every two years mine is due this year also, I'm not looking forward to it. I am still not sure if they will let me leave my tuner in if I put it in stock mode I'm hoping they will.
I have had to smog my truck every year since day one here in Arizona. We pay at the emission station (about $28) and again for our tags. I think my first registration was about $350 or so. As each year passes, it gets less expensive. This past year (2010) my registration was $77.57.

I checked the CARB web sight and the DP Tuners are accepted on the CARB list, although I would recommend stock setting for no smoke, smoke is what they are looking for. Boost anhelators are not legal. 6637 filters are, larger exhaust is as long as you have your cat if it is a cat equipped originally.

If you want to drive to Truckee I know a local guy who does right away for either $58 or $68 and he don't care about the tuner because he knows they are legal. Might be better than dealing with some dropout who fails it because he don't know any better.
What a headache, worrying what mods to pull and what you think you can leave in. No smog here, diesels are exempt but I get hit with a yearly 153.00 tag charge plus a 28.00 inspection fee, garage of my choice of course. Good luck Terry..
In NJ they have done away with inspections except for emissions for cars and smoke for diesel. You could bring it in on a flatbed with no lights or exhaust and flat tires. If it passes emissions it gets a sticker. NJ is broke.
I'm due for smog in a few weeks. I have codes for a lose harness over boost and a few others. Going to fix it this week but I already spoke to my smog guy. It'll pass.

From what I hear, there is a place in Dixon that smogs diesels and is aware of the legal mods, common sence mods that make sence and thinks this smog check is bogus just as we do. Only 15 min away for me so I will most likely go there. Thanks for the tip though.
I passed mine last year. $50.00 smog and $400.00 tags for a 2000 truck!
Ouch that hurts...No testing here in SC. Just bought my tags 77.00 No testing in FL either. My excursion is tagged for FL and just bought those tags 68.00
