Installing a new fuel pump on my 2000 Exc. 7.3l. I bought the Airtex e2236 and it has some brass washers in a bag. Do they go on the "in" side of the pump where the plastic threads meet the brass nipple by the o ring? Are they crush washers? Also how do I get the quick connect seperated on the outlet(engine side)? Is there a tool or what?
Thanks

I just changed mine out 2 months ago with an OEM Bosch pump and I dont remember any brass crush washers with mine. Yes you will need a fuel disconnect tool to get the line off going to the eng. You can pick it up at any auto parts store. You can buy each piece sep or a whole kit for about $15.
I would highly recommend installing a pre fuel filter before the pump also.

Great choice on pump. The tool is available at any auto parts store.
I had to shorten the insert of my release tool (used an angle grinder).
The pump and loose parts, i use the pump assembled to the metal inlet with the O ring inside it { use these parts, 1) pump, 2) O ring, 3) inlet }.
It comes with parts for several different installations so you do not have to purchase the needed parts individually.

Were any other components with the Bosch pump? Or just the pump like in the picture?
FYI. I took a male outlet from one of the bosch failures and screwed it to a 5/16 barb and attached 2 foot of 5/16 hose.
The E2236 is clamped to the hose, hose is looped and the bosch end is attached into the fuel line. If i ever have to change it again, it will be so much easier.
Thanks everyone. Sound like I dont need those brass washers. Also I will delate the inlet quick connect and put a in line filter in as suggested by alot of people. I LOVE THIS FORUM!!!
