Limited Slip transfers power to the tire with the most amount of resistance. This equals better traction. Limited Slip is much friendlier than any locker. It's nice to have!

It's because it's an overdrive gear.

Overdrive is for fuel mileage, not passing people. =)

No its not. OD is for crusing. if you read the owners manual i believe it even states you need to downshift out of OD if you wish to pass. OD is for maintaining speed, not gaining it.

i wish my f350 with the 351 had a little bit more, you stomp on it from dead start it goes but wont set you back in the seat. of course ive got to move 6500 pounds and since its winter the hubs are locked, so theres more weight to turn. Back to mpgs, im getting 8 mpg on average, i get like 5-6 loaded. I would be happy with like 11-12, i dont think 33-12.5 tires help any eather, maybe if i go back down to 235-85's i would see some improvement

anytime throttle exceeds a certain point or below a set speed trans automatically disengages OD.. If it does not you have an issue, so yes if you are somehow "locked" in OD acceleration will be sluggish. Switch is there for manually disengaging/disabling OD in cases of towing or steep inclines..
