Coolant filter
Does anyone out there know of a complete coolant filter kit for the 7.3 IDI ? I am told that the filter helps prevent CAVITATION.
Any help will be appreciated. This is my first experience with a diesel.

I have a homemade system that I put together. I have not seen a pre-assembled system on the market for our IDI's.

Thanks for the reply, have checked out your homepage at dieselstop.com. I was hoping for a kit, as I take my work as it comes, so I dont know where I am going to be from day to day. Traffic is so bad in Atlanta, that I am unable to ride around looking for parts, and hoped to buy a complete kit, shipped to the front door.

As an aside, you don't need a coolant filter to prevent caviation. You can do that just by adding an additive (DC-4, FW-16) to your coolant (which you should be doing anyway). If you buy a coolant filter pre-charged with an additive, then you don't have to pour in the additive, the filter meters it out for you. You still need to test the coolant periodically to make sure that the additive is in there at the right levels. A coolant filter is a good thing to have though because it filters out all the crud running around your cooling system thereby extending the life of your water pump, hoses, etc. For a much better discussion of your coolant system, check out http://asclepius.com/carpentractor/c...sysservice.htm
