1997 F150 4wd shifting problems

1997 F150 4wd shifting problems
I shifted into 4wdl while dirt riding and it wouldnt come out of 4wdl later. The only way I could get it to disengage was to disconnect the battery. The truck has 103000 mile on it and is in great shape. The 4wd has maybe 25 miles of use. Any ideas would be appreciated.

Hi jcntc4u,
If you hit the search button at the top of the page and search for 4x4 or something similar you should be able to find other posts about the same sort of problem. Lots of times they wont go into 4x4 at all but I think the problem is similar....probably something wrong in your 4x4 shift motor on the transfer case....as long as you have Electronic Shift On The Fly and not a manual lever.
