Help! I have a 2008 F350 Lariat CC, LWB, 4X4, Diesel. 100,000 + miles
In the mornings when the temps dips down below 10 degrees (here in Northern WI, thats every morning) the heater in the truck will not turn on. To get more to the point, the whole indash module is dead including the LCD screen. after the truck is running for about 20 min. then the LCD screen might come on and the heater works. This has happened once down in Texas this early winter when the temp dropped down in the low 40s. I have replaced the indash module and problem was not corrected. It would appear that it is a loose connection somewhere that is temperature sensitive, once the connection warms up something expands and makes continuity. I am getting ready to pull fuses and freeze then check with a meter to see if there is a hairline crack. Does anyone have any ideas on what to check next.
Thank You
Zimmzam
What is a body controls module? By the way I pulled every fuse out of the fuse box and found 2 separate fuses that cut power to the indash LCD screen, one of them seemed a little loose. While wiggleing it back and forth power was on and off, so I tweeked the ears on the fuse and reinstalled it. The truck will have to sit outside tonight and we will see in the morning if that was it.
Think I found the problem, I think it must have been the loose fuse (#36) the prongs in the fuse box must have been spread too far apart. I twisted the prongs on the fuse and reinstalled it, let the truck sit outside last night and the heater worked fine this morning. It is just hard to believe the torerances involved that cold weather would separate the connection.
Thanks for the help.
