i'm looking at an '04, need some opinions. i've been in my '99 gasser for 4 years now and seen alot of the 6.0 issues come thru the SD sub forum, so i'm aware of the most common issues with them. the '04 i'm looking at "...has 250,000 mostly highway miles on it. Body is in great shape, hardly no rust. Interior is in great shape. New batteries, all new injectors, new FMIC, new turbo, new cooper discover atr tires, newer brakes..."
- i've only seen exterior pics, truck is visually in great shape.
- not sure on the chassis wear parts, but after owning mine the only thing i'm really worried about is the ESOF if it has it (i love my manual t-case in my '99!)
- i haven't verified if he really meant FMIC or if it was a typo intended to be FICM.
- at 250k.. is it safe to assume the other 6.0 horror stories probably would have reared their ugly head by now?
- are the replaced turbo parts a sign of a certain problem that may require other parts or come back to bite me?
Your stuff that has been replaced, that means it broke at some point. I have 200k on my 6.0 and everything is origional. I would pay close attention to waht was replaced, who replaced it, and how long ago. EGR can come up at any point though, carbon build-up on the valve.
Ask for service records. Oil changes 5 k and fuel filter change at 10k. What was it used for? Antifreeze changed at 50k, transmission flushed at 50k these are a must for longevity of engine and transmission. We have had several recalls/customer satisfaction done on ours. wonder if they was done on that one?
