Paint....Factory?
I used to have a 79 F-150. Long story short, I no longer have it, but I want to paint my new one like the old one. Is this stripe factory? Is is part of like an explorer package or something? The stripe ran the entire length of the truck.

To be more exact, the stripe is part of the 1975 Explorer package. The stripes changed each year on the Explorers.

A previous owner probably got the '75 stripe kit from Ford and installed it. Some of the kits are still available from the obsolete parts suppliers, the problem is these kits only have a shelf life of a couple of years. If its older than that, its a crap-shoot on whether the kit will be any good.
When you get your truck painted, have the stripes painted on also. If you're doing base coat/clear coat, have the stripes painted under the clear, it'll look great and you won't have to worry about cracking and peeling like the original vinyl stripes.
Or someone could have swaped a '75 cab onto the '79 frame.

I was gonna paint them on, but I need a template to work off from. Wish I could find one of those to use as a guide. Think a ford stealership would have one in stock?
