Has anybody had any problem logging onto FTE forums? Everytime I log in or change pages my virus protection comes up with virus detected, heur trojan. It clears it but happens again when I go to another page or associated forum. Note; "IT ONLY HAPPENS ON FTE FORUMS, NO WHERE ELSE"
It's pretty common one forums. Hackers hide trojans in the ads on a forum like this one (this site has a shet ton of ads compared to most). Then when you hit the site and the ads load you also catch yourself a nice trojan. It's usually a redirect type. I got a nasty one from another site and had to re-install the operating system. The pop ups we're all seeing is probably a redirect trojan that is already on your system. So if you're seeing pop-ups or warnings about pop-ups you're prob infected already.
I tired every anti virus prog out there and ended up reinstalling to get rid of it but the're a bitch because the anti virus progs and anti-spyware prog couldn't find it.
And then I'd post up there any information you have with specifics, screen shots, etc. You can also do this in a trouble ticket. I'm sure any more information would help IB solve the problem.
As far as I know, it's just been popup's in Firefox. Although I did get one blocked virus at the very first. I don't think anyone has reported the problem in IE yet.

Just FYI, I've scanned my system now once with 3 different virus/spyware programs and have found nothing. I'm not convinced it's something that's infected our computers, but it is something coming from the web page. I'm continuing to scan, though, in case it's something new that hasn't been cataloged yet.
I'm running Kaspersky virus protection and it is catching it before it gets to the computer. Very annoying however. Another reason I never open or patronize bussinesses that employ pop ups. And I never/never open them.

That's what I ran into also which is why I ended up reinstalling the operating system. I bought different antivirus and free ones and ran every anti spyware prog I could find and none of them found anything. It ended up being a TDSS redirect virus which is why no anti-virus/spyware prog could find it and reinstalling got rid of it. I did see it in Highjackthis but I couldn't remove enough of it to keep it from regenerating so reinstalling the OS was the only way to kill it.
Edit: I just went and looked the the reg on this puter for the same codes form the previous one and didn't see the one I had but I did see some new entries which may simply be a different form of the other.
Interesting. I have a couple other computers that I don't use for browsing, I could check to see if it's happening on them.
I hope it's not a reinstall thing, although with this computer it won't matter much, since the hinge and lid broke the other day and it's replacement is in the mail.
Have you tried Malware Bytes? Tends to a be good one in getting rid of things.
I generally start with Spybot S&D, since it's entirely freeware, runs pretty fast and finds and fixes most of the problems. If that fails I go to MalwareBytes. I also use Avast anti-virus. I'm the only guy in a very small town that knows anything about computers, so I go through one every month or two.
