thermal vs ceramic headers whats the diff?

hedman has some headers and one is ceramic coated and the others are thermal coated, my question whats the difference between the both? do they look alot different i know the ceramics are shiney but what do the thermals look like are they just painted grey or are they also shiney?

i ask because the thermals have a thicker flange are are 14 gauge vs 18 gauge of the ceramics, so if there isn't much difference i think i might take the thermals but let me know i asked summitracing tech line but they have yet to get back to me

The better Elite headers are really nice units but I dont know how the coating will hold up as I sold the set I had and bought Hookers. The Hookers I have were Jet Hot coated by the previous owner and looked good when I bought them used but they pitted shortly after. Im not sure how the Hooker coating holds up but the headers are way better for performance as they are 1 7/8 instead of 1 3/4 and the tubes go under the trans crossmember so they fit better and it makes running exhaust easy. Ive had Dynomax, 2 sets of Hedmans and the Hookers for my truck and ill only run Hookers from now on.
