Funny you should mention that. That was also something I had thought about. If you do it I would love to see some pictures.....

Well how about leveling the body on the chassis? Or even lowering the rear suspension?

Hey Jim,
Can you post some pictures of your truck, we seem to be the only ones on here using or admitting to using S10 chassis. I know I spent a bit of time to get everything to line up properly.
Thanks, Brian

Brian,
This is how the truck was when I bought it. I debated on what to do but I realized that part of what attracted me to this truck was it's atitude and being different. There have only been two real problems. The headlight issue and the low steering column. The headlight fix is coming and when I get it back on the road after wiring A new steering column should fix it. Remember the chassis is totally stock with a V8 conversion.

Here is the promised link to my PB account. On the second page is more links to subfolders.

Wow looking at where it was when I started and where it is now....

Jim,
Thats one cool truck! The stance is great, just watch out for speedbumps, curbs, stones, dimes etc.. Look for a tilt S10 column to solve that problem. If you want the front end alittle higher you could check into V6 front springs. What are you planning for the box besides large tubs?

Thanks brian. If I get the front fenders I am trying to get I will simply cut off the front sheet metal until I get at least 4 inches of clearance. That will take out 90 to 95 percent of the problems. The good set will be shortened properly.

I am going to re-engineer the steering column and use a single tube column that has a dis-connect for the stering wheel. Can't steal it if you can't drive it. BTW: The steering column will have no turn signals and no ign. I have an electronic turnsignal system with just a small double through switch and a single small red button to turn on the 4-ways.
This is all mounted at the bottom of the dash.

Ok as for the bed.... As of right now I am not going to put a bed back on it. I am going to make a frame cover like the 18 wheeler tractors have. In the back the rear panel will be the light bar. For the rear fenders I have been looking at the big tractor single fenders out there. Remember that my rear tires are 33inches high and the next tires i get will be at least 29 inches tall with about a foot of rubber so I need a real set of fenders. Besides they have a lot of styles. I will also put phantom lights at the bottom of the fenders.

All most done. Since I will have no storage I am going to build a big steel/aluminum chest across the chassis and behind the cab. Even though it will look it opens from the top the sides will be what opens with lock and key. safe for carrying luggage or grocieries or whatever.

See what happens when you get a darksider going ???
