I’ve owned a couple of “high mileage” Xtra cabs and always wanted a Crew cab short bed. Last year I found my truck, a Blk 97 F250 CC, org owner with 150k, and so the journey started. Well I got deployed to Afghanistan shortly after the purchase and didn’t have any time to work on the truck. While I was deployed the wife had a rust spot cut out of the roof (rail) new tires installed, trans serviced, and windows tinted. When I got home we decided to take a trip to Colorado (Rocky mountains), and needless to say traveling from California with the wife, 2 kids and a dog I was a little concerned the high mileage 97 would have issues on the 3000 mile round trip (trust me I loaded a fair share of tools for a roadside repair) . The 150k 460 preformed flawless, averaging 13MPG on 33s with 410 gears @ 70-MPH and neither the falling snow, dirt roads or 11,000ft elevations proved problematic for our 14 year old truck. I thought I would just share my experience…The Ford F series once again impressed me. She got rewarded with a fresh interior shampoo, new radio, speakers, sub and amp.
Ditto.
I really feel sorry for all our young troops that have to go there. It's too bad you guys are fighting a lost cause that really isn't helping us back home. The Russians failed there years ago and we should have learned from their mistakes.
Awesome truck!

1st I'm not a young troop (got almost 20 years service with 2 combat tours and 15 months boots on ground in that country) 2nd its not a lost cause or a failure, but I also understand that is your opinion from "over here". I won't get political or even open this for discussion in this thread; However, I would ask people to have a "two sides to every story" vision ......and also understand the media controls your side...for what it's worth!

I'm not part of that side if I think that's what you mean. I had first hand correspondence with some of the Russian troops who were involved at the time.
Not all of them made it either.
Same propaganda machines working then and now.
Stay safe.
