I bought a 1972 f100 long bed 302 V8 with a C-4 trans.
To put in my 1957 f100 short bed
Trans has 11 bolts on the pan, dip stick tube side of pan but out put shaft it has a solid yoke.
What trans is it?
I have same type of C4 with fill tube in pan-I NEED A PAN and FILL TUBE with Dip Stick. Mine comes out as a 68/69 car trans with a code # PEA M1. As best I can find out is that Ford put them in '69-mid 70's F-100, mid-full size cars and in Broncos. Made with heavier output shaft and yoke with additional clutches. The body of trans is longer to form part of bell housing with a shorter bell housing.
gregfire-post a picture of your trans pan and yoke, with ID Tag info. zenmaster-the link you provided makes reference to the C4, like I have, with the style that has the fill tube/dip stick in the pan. But, it does not show a picture or give any details on the trans.
I do not have the dip stick/fill tube or pan-I need to find those ASAP. Can find a replacement chrome pan at a low price. But, for fill tube set up only available from hi-buck Lokar or from racing transmission shops. Local shops that sell used Ford parts and wrecking yards do not have this type of set up. Will have to hit more Pick'N'Pull yards. Wanted ads on craigslist have not located parts needed either. I do not need the fancy stuff.

The C4 pan shouldn't be too hard to find, the same one (DOAZ-7A194-A) was used 1969/79 in myriad cars/trucks.
But, there are THREE different fill tubes and FOUR different dipsticks used w/this pan just for 1968/79 F100/150's.
I found 7 of these.
------------------ DOTZ-7A228-A .. Fill Tube = 1969/72 F100 240/300/302.
No one has any.
I didn't look for 1973/79 parts...yet.
And, you are also gonna need this: 87034-S94 .. Fill Tube O-Ring-9/16" I.D. / Available from Ford, fits a gazillion different A/T's from 1951 thru today.
NumberDummy-Wow! Thanks for info. With so many variables that may be part of the reason not readily available in the aftermarket world. Will check Pick'N'Pull web site since they list vehicles in their yards.
Finally got to a Pick'N'Pull that had Pre 80's Ford Trucks/Vans. No older Ford cars. There were about 9 to check out for a C4 fill tube/dip stick in the pan. Trans I have did not have a pan. Pan I found came from was marked as a '73 F-100-dip stick number is D38P-7A020-AA. The other trucks at wrecking yard either had no trans, C6 or stick.

Number Dummy-if you can do any type of transmission ID with numbers on casing of C4 please give this a shot: on the side is C6 PP-7006A in the 2 circles above number: 1st one has a 3 in next one is 1BX66-do not have ID Tag or dip stick-if these numbers do not help you is there anything else to look for to help ID?-Thanks
from what I could find online the main body casting number that includes C6 shows this other trans I have is a 1966. Fill tube in casting, not pan -should be a car/Mustang tranny.
