This is frustrating. what ever happened to Costumer service.

no Ford wont cover the Degas bottle .cap or hoses ,, and they will replace them to the tune of $344 because they will tell u they can't determine if the cooler is bad because you have issues with those items ... then after they bend u over and fix the parts that were fine they will tell you that was the issue ,,

How do I know??

because I called BS and asked for all my parts back

24 hours later my cap and bottle have held 12 psi ,, pressurized thru the lower hose fitting ,, sitting on my kitchen table ,, this is a common ford BS repair IMHO

someting with your story is not right. I suggest you contact the service manager, the genral manager and possibly ford to get reimbursed. I have been doing this for a loing time and can tell you otherwise. I have not had to charge a single customer for any of the above do to a failed oil cooler that has leached / dumped oil in to the cooling system, for that matter They also get a free new water pump from me. also billed as related damage. I suspect I know what is going on but that is a dealer issue.

Well I will start again ( all do respect)
My situation ,, I have temp variances of 15 degrees ,, and have puked a little on the bottle with the white spots as evident ,,

I took her in because I was /am about out of Warranty ,, then I got the call about the upper hose ,degas bottle and cap

I knew this was all crap but they had my truck and told me they could not finish the EOT/ECT variance until this was fixed .. and thanks to them calling it a degas bottle instead of a coolant reservoir my aftermarket warranty would not cover any of it ,,,

dealer calls me and says all is fixed and that was your issue ,, temps are fine now .. well my temps are the same , as always , and the parts test good by my own test .. 12 psi from the bottom inlet ,cap on
I have contacted the dealer and am waiting for a good answer to what they did to determine all of these items were bad ??

thanks for the input Ceezit I really appreciate all you do !!!

ok we are talking about 2 different concerns from the same part.
you have/had a restricted oil cooler. sorry but that will not get you a hose. but.....
if you review tsb 09-08-03 if the oil cooler was found bad at the time the cap and bottle were "bad" then they go under the tsb and are covered.
I assumed that you also had an issue with oil in coolant in wich case hose, cap and bottle are related damage.
you also have a 3rd thing going on wich the dealer can not controll. thats a 3rd party warranty. I hate what those warranty companies do to people and that does nothing more to help the dealers situation for customer retension. its a one time pocket filling
from the sale. at best a **** poor deal for the service dept and the customer. also in the end I think it effects the ability to get a new car sale when the time comes.

do you have the vxcf9 flash? if so you should be getting a p112f code.
now also it depends on when you are looking at the spread as to weather you have a warrentable issue.

Thanks Cheez ,, I asked if the new flash would help I was told no ..I was aware of the codes for the EOT/ECT but with 8 days left the extra 110$ wasn't worth it ,,
and since my warranty is up on the 30th I figured I was screwed ,, the only reason I have an aftermarket warranty is a dealer told me due to my 4-6 inch lift all claims would be denied ,, I since have learned it's all about the dealer you find ,,

Sounds like this dealer and AM warranty company are in partnership.

4-6" lift is not out of the norm. I have seen claims for ball joints get nixed but thats about it. Its all in the dealer / techs. sometimes we can some times we cant. sometimes it changes on a daily basis.
I know it sucks. Im on the other end of the middle. As a tech all I want is to feed my family. It matters not to me who pays the bill. I find it less hassle when its fodrs and we all wind up happer in most cases.

I did get the balljoints covered after the AM sent out an isnpector ,, check it out

the $344 for the bottle, cap and hose ,, plus my share of cooant. alignment and fords $100 diagnostic was $1000 .00 I could have done the real repairs (ball joints only ) at home for $300

trust me I call the AM warranty company all the time and have taken them to the BBB twice ,, GWC didn't cover the evacuation and recharge for a failed A/C compressor ,, they also pay 70 bucks an hour for labor ,, the shops I trust are $110an hour

I have no prob paying the difference

thanks for the input and sorry Jake for the high jack ,, but I think it will help u ?

most dealers have the same issue. the am co. will pay $x./per hour. they also fight the labor times and diag too. most of the time the dealer will eat the rest.... unless the number is just way out of wack.

ford also pays less then window rate just so you know...

I had a similar experience with my purchasing dealership and an AM warranty when I THOUGHT I was getting a Ford plan. Turns out I didn't and got that dealership in deep stuff when I called Ford to inquire about it. Strange that that same dealership has new owners now.

Thank you BigRed I looked on fords web site and could not find it.
I just emailed them. The real problem I have is when the dealer said it was not under warranty I started tearing it down. To find out they lied or just don't know. I have put it back together but have a coolant leak at the EGR cooler o-ring and hose.
