not sure, but I am new to the 50s Effies..... my guess: snap-in armrest, or window regulator adjustment holes? IDFK and now this is gonna drive me nuts!
They are holes for the arm rests. There is a plate missing tho that the arm rest actually bolts to, and that an interior door panel hooks over. I think the holes you see here are actually clearance holes for the bolts that hold the arm rest to the plate. The plate was riveted to the door.
What are these holes for, In driver side only. Looked at a lot of pics but never see them.
Here's my guess, which I am basing on a shop manual and Mid Fifty Parts Catalog.
Deluxe cabs had arm rest and that is where they attached. There would have been clips in each hole which the arm rest attached to through the door panel.
My '55, which is not a deluxe cab, does not have those rectangular holes.
Will be by the body shop where the stock truck is thur. and take some pics of the arm rest door plate .I need to collect on our NFC title game bet .He owes me 2 cases of Coors Lite . Will post pics of door thur . eve. Later , Denny
Okay, Thanks for the pics. Found some clips i'm sure are meant for the holes, Now the drivers door does not have the holes. Anyone put the armrest on with no holes for clips?
