So after getting all the wiring reinstalled in my truck, i have a wire that I believe would go to the transfer case (NP205). It comes off the main harness that runs along the left inside frame rail. It has a rubber connection that looks similar to the gas tank connections. I've got all the wires plugged into the fuel sending units tho. The transfer case has no electrical connections on it. My question is this: did any or all NP205's have an electrical connection that would turn on a 4x4 light on the dash? I 've rebuild the instrument cluster but for the life of me I do not remember seeing a 4x4 light. I understand the full time 4x4's had an indicator light that was mounted underneath the center of the dash. So what do I do with this extra wire, tuck it out of sight and forget about it? lol
lol when we put a new motor in our 93 exploder the motor came out of a 94 or 95 cant remember but there was a wire on the new motor and there was on plug we couldnt figure out where it went....turned out to be some cam shaft sensor so we just never plugged it in....still running fine lol.....so just tuck it out of the way and do a test run if its not right then look over it again
81-explorer - the wire is black and goes to the "Differential Lockout Indicator Lamp switch" . Don't think i need this wire because there are no electrical switches on the transfer case and this truck never had the 4x4 light on the lower center of the dash. I think only the full time 4x4's had the indicator light but not sure. Why wouldn't they have used the 4x4 indicator light on the part time NP205's to let you know when you were in 4x4 or not? Seems moronic to me....oh well.
Does anybody here have a '78 NP205 with the 4x4 indicator light on the lower edge of the dash (factory installed - not added later! lol)? Thanks
Anyone? Does anyone have an NP205 transfer case in a '78 F250 with the 4x4 indicator lamp on the lower center edge of the dash?? I have an extra wire along the frame rail which i believe goes to the transfer case but there are no electrical connections on the transfer case - why not?
