Towing?

Hey guys got a question for you. My buddy has a 99 Ford Explorer and is going to be towing a C22 Trailer Light camper. Its 2900 GWVR and its got a 480lb tongue weight. What do you think he should do to it improve his towing abilities?

Tanny cooler
Beefy springs
Oil cooler
Brake assist
Shocks
weight distribution hitch

Any thoughts?

Towing?

1. tranny cooler
2. add-a-leaf or "helper" leafs (I run both)
3. class 3 hitch of course
4. Ranco RS9000 adjustable shock would be nice for the rear
5. External tranny filter (adds a extra quart or so of tranny fluid too)

Towing?

Thanks, I never planned on towing with it when I did all the stuff to it and the bigger tires kind of hurt me. I was running 33s last year while towing and this year I am running 32s, so I am hoping I get a little more power for those hills (thats where she lacks). One good thing is that I had already installed the add-a-leafs for some extra hight, so I didn't have to install them when I started towing with it. I just got the Helwig "helpers" over Christmas, so I haven't had a chance to test them yet, but with the 400 pound tongue weight on my trailer the rear of the Explorer would squat 3" (I turned my t-bars down in the front 1" so she is level with the trailer on. She sits 3" higher in the rear with out trailer attached) even with the add-a-leafs. I figure the "helpers" are for 15,000 pounds, so I should only lose about an inch now. If it works out that way, I can turn my t-bars up again so she don't look like a dragster any more. I should also be able to pull the B2 alittle further up on the trailer which will help even the weight out on the trailers axles alittle better.
