I hav a 1978 for f-150 4x4 the flashers will not come on when I pull the switch on, when I put my foot on the brake the indicator lights come on in the dash however they will not flash. If I let my foot off the brake they go out. Any info on where to start to fix this
First, do a quick check with your front and rear turn signals (make sure the bulbs are flashing front and rear). If you have a couple of burned-out light bulbs, replace them, and try your emergency flashers again to see if they work.
If your turn signal bulbs are OK (lighting up and flashing properly), then it simply sounds to me like your emergency flasher unit is bad. Go get a new one and put it in (haven't bought one for a long time, but don't think they are too expensive - a few dollars, maybe?).
If none of that works, however, then you probably have a wiring problem - and your fun is just beginning!
