Doesn't bother me too much. I believe there are some stroker kits for certain engines that actually use other model pistons than Ford and strokers are becoming very popular. If I could install a 700R4 transmission in my truck I would. I've heard really good things about those OD transmissions and they aren't very expensive and no electronic BS to deal with. Cost would be much lower. But, I haven't looked into it too much to see if an adapter would bolt one up to my 460.
I see this Alot Since I sell parts! Ford is Ford Please don't mix, I would never put a SBC in my trucks, But Im thinking about Chevy drive train for the 82 jeep I just got, but it has No drive train now.
I have one customer with an 85 F250 SBC Its a pile of ......
Talked to one guy to night, has a 68 F100 sbc. He plans to put a BBF in it this summer cause he dont like that the PO put the SBC in.
This was mentioned on TV the other night on SPEED broadcast of a Barrett-Jackson Auction. A nicely done Ford was sold with a SBC engine. One of the comentators (might have been Mike Joy) said he felt that the engine should be the same make or in the family as the vehicle. A ford in a Ford, Mopar in a Mopar etc.
i about flip out at car shows because of this. i like chevys. but by god if you have the best power it with the best! and mopar... i'd push my ford up hill by myself before owning a dodge. i think the sbc is ridiculously overrated. parts for windsors are comparably priced and the windsors have more torque and similar hp! i can rant for hours about this.
simple, the gm 350 is cheap and reliable. not to mention the sky is the limit for accessories for it. walk into autozone and look at the performance isle. alot of the stocked parts are for the 350
Smurf, go for it. Anything is fair game when building them hotrods. Them guys mix and match parts and you'd never know it by looking at the finished product.
