On a side note, if all of this DOES come to fruition, you're going to see a lot of trucks for sale-cheap. Just my .02

I have already adapted to using a Ranger for everything but the heaviest tasks.

Wow, thanks for all of the Info!
Yeah, i don't plan on working the truck too hard, the occasional 3,000 - 4,000 lb load of stone or ton of firewood. My daily driver is an '03 Focus, so it will only get abused on weekends and summertime, as I'm a teacher / stone mason. The 351 I have now is mostly sufficient, the only reason I'm replacing it is because the coolant system is plagued with rust and I want a 4wd, plus it's got 245k on it now.
The truck with the 460 got sold anyway. I gotta admit, I was curious about having that much power under the hood. Getting ready to buy a '96 F250 XLT Ext. Cab 4x4 tomorrow. I test drove it today. It's only got 150k on it and it drove nice.

Thanks for all of the insights. I ended up going with the best overall deal I could find. Got a '96 F250 XLT 351 4x4 for $2,800. It's got 154k miles on it and is in nice overall condition. It runs great, and the wife even likes it! I've got a tranny question but will post that in a new thread.

My experience the Winsor has a longer life span and performs well, BUT how well were these trucks maintained and how were they used don't forget to ask about that.

my 351 blows the doors off my 460 but if i put a load behind the 460 it pulls a little better then my 351.

Yeah, how they were used is a big concern... This truck has no evidence of having a plow hooked up to it. It has the towing package and a Reese brake light box, so I guess it towed some stuff. I did a VIN check and it came back good, but beyond that, a fifteen year old vehicle is always somewhat of a gamble I guess.
