2003 Ranger acceleration issues
Truck is in good condition has been running top notch forever. Just tonight when you give it gas it cuts out @ 3k rpm's. To describe the cutting out better its like as if you got it to 3k rpm's and then let off the gas, then stomped, then let off, over and over and very very quickly. This is with the truck moving or in park. Please help, it's my woman's truck and though I can probably fix it, I need to know what to focus on.
Thank You!
The fuel pressure should be 64 +/- 8psi.
While there you might consider doing a delivery/volume, over time test. If thats low, as he said it could be a delivery problem, like a clogged in tank pump sock/pre filter, weak pump motor, or acting out fuel pressure regulator in the assy, clogged fuel filter, kinked fuel line, low voltage to the pump, weak battery, are some of the things that come to mind.
If your revving the engine in "P" or "N", you may be bumping the computers rev limiter.
Let us know what you find.
but i check a lot of thing and did nt find anything.
there is no code , no freeze frame , nothing.
Truck have 73000km
Fuel pressure is 60-65psi at idle or when revving
I jus did a road test and I can go to near 60mph but no power, need to be very gentle on the throttle. Did not hear any pinging or backfire. If I goes at wot it will accelerate very slow , around 45-50mph there is a kick down but the engine seems to float at 5500 and shift in third but continues to accelerate very gently. I spray some water/salt and check for spark blow with a ground and everything look fine. Got .986v at closed TPS and 4.55v at WOT. No glitch or OL in the entire range. <!-- / message --><!-- sig -->
Temp right cats 475f inlet and 500f outlet
Left cats 390f inlet and 440f outlet
Dual cat is 250f outlet
Resonator is 300 outlet
Both manifold are around 425f
Thanks and hope this help me and the OP.
You've been busy on this one!!!!
Sounds like maybe the air filter, or air intake to the throttle body is restricted, or maybe there is a fuel flow/volume problem.
How does the MAF sensor reading look????
