I currently have a 93 F150 XLT with the 5.8L and E4OD transmission. I just swapped out the transmissions and put a rebuilt E4OD in but when i shift into drive it starts out in second gear (at least im pretty sure its second) so it takes about 4000 RPM's to get it to start moving. I took the truck to a transmission shop to have it scaned and they couldnt find anything wrong with it. they said it must be something electrical because when they bypassed the wiring harness with there equipment the transmission worked fine and shifted through every gear. They said it must be a electrical problem and i should change the wiring harness. Now i have been reading other posts and have found others with similar problems that turned out to be the TRS so i am planning to try changing that but im having troubles finding one. Also i have been trying to find a wiring harness just in case the TRS isnt the problem, but every wiring harness i find (including ones out of other 93 F-150 XLT's) all seem to be slightly different. the harness on my truck has 2 connections, a square one and a smaller round connection. My problem is that every time i find a transmission wiring harness for this truck the smaller round connector only has 4 wire connections were as the wiring harness currently in my truck has 6 wire connections and is slightly bigger. I was wondering why this is and if anyone knows were i can find the proper harness. Also the only other truck i have seen with this harness is a 96 F-250 so is it possible that a previous owner has put in a newer wiring harness at some point? any help would be much appreciated.
