factory radio replacement

I have a 99 f-150. Mt factory am/fm/cd player still works but if you eject a cd it never quits trying to eject and you have to fight it to insert another cd. I am planning to replace it with another factory am/fm/cd player. My question is my friend recently tried to replace his stereo in his 05 chevy truck and found out that the vin number of the truck must match the vin number of the stereo or it won't work(theft prevention)and has to be reprogrammed to the tune of $120. I am hoping/wondering if my truck is to old to have such computerized security nonsense. Does anyone know?

Unless you specifically want another OEM headunit, you'll get much more bang for the buck getting an aftermarket radio. Nice USB MP3 cd player units can be had for $60+ on amazon.
