Same with the FE blocks. Except those aren't even marked internally, You have to check the bore and stroke.

I've had to do the same. Too many guys saying they are selling a 390, that's actually a 360.

I've also had guys argue with me about a 351C vs a 351W, that makes things interesting, lol.

Just figured out my rig has the "Explorer" package.
The truck has a hole on the hood where the hood ornament should be and both "Exploer" badges are long gone off the back of the box so I wasn't quite sure what was going on. According to the door code the color is "red". Well the paint is faded so bad it's hard to tell. The interior color seemed a little off to me for supposedly being red.....it was more a maroon color.

Well I just figured out that the stripes on the truck are probably explorer stripes so I started looking around the site. Found a scan of an original 1978 Explorer brochure. Pics show my stripes and list optional Explorer paint colors. One of which is maroon.

Also my truck came with the original 16.5" rims. I've since replaced them with 16" because I needed new tires. What was the reason for the 16.5" rim? The above mentioned brochure list 15",16" and 16.5" rim sizes

Sorry if this seems silly but I'm not to familiar with the '70's trucks. Learn'n as I go......

You are correct. Been getting paid to do it for the last 13 years. Before that I was a volley for 8 years. I miss my volley days.

That is weird, 16.5" rims. Never heard of that. Hey, if we can help in any way Michael, we'll do what we can!

My 78 F250 had 16.5" rims too... Not sure why they offered that odd size. I know back in 2003/4 when I had that truck only one or two companies were making tires in that size.

Thanks for the offer. Maybe when it warms up I'll have to drive out that way.
Do you have any pics of the '78 Explorer? I'd like to see it.

We'll have to try and get a get together arranged here sometime. Haven't had a chapter meet for a while, so I'll see what I can arrange.

Some mention of the use of HD brakes. They had clear the larger calipers???? I'm not quite sure as the 16" rims I just put on seem to be o.k. but I haven't driven it a lot yet to make any determinations.

I wish they still offered 16.5" tires. I really wanted to use my stock rims with original wheel caps. I like the ol' school look.
