I have heard nothing but good reviews about the 5star tunes unless the buyers truck have had issues prior to tune.

Same for me, My truck is a dog stock 09 f350, even with the 87 octane performance/tow tune its like night and day, its like I jumped into an f-150 with the same engine, the 91 perf/tow tune is like adding a small bit of n20, its amazing,
the 89 octane tune is the best of both. The truck even sounds different with even the mildest tunes installed. to this day still the best mod ever done even for the price.

just got my updated tunes from 5star and running 88 octane gas (they had 87, 88, and 89) and the truck feels 800 pounds lighter, quicker acceleration, and doesn't downshift as much going up hills on highway

I had to remove my tune to smog it here in the Republik of Kalifornia, had to drive about 150 miles with the stock tune........what a bummer it was for 150 miles. It made me realize what a HUGE difference it makes, I only went back to the 87 octane tow/perf tune. Its like boring stock to fun with the 5 star. I'd say its like going from a 5.8 v8 to a 6.8 v10.

Just got an X4 from 5 Star. Going to test it out this weekend and see how it works. Will start out with the 87 eco and 87 performance.

Tried out my tuner from 5 Star. Holy crap it's a huge difference just on a short drive I've been on. Way more throttle response. Takes of faster than ever. Can't wait to get into some hills on our next trip. Night and day difference even on the 87 eco tune. Very happy with 5 Star Tuning. They helped with all my questions and shipping was super fast. Tuner exceeds expectations so far.

I just picked up an 03 F250 6.8L Supercab 4x4. Is there anything I should be concerned with before considering a new tune...since I don't know the whole history of the truck? I like the idea that I might get better performance and MPG even though the truck drives just fine as it is. I believe it was well taken care of. When I start towing I'll only be towing about 9K lbs (covered car hauler, Mustang, extra wheels/tires, tools....). Some of the gear might be in the bed of course so I guess it will be 9K+truck+passengers total.

First thing is you don't know when everything was serviced or fluids change that's a good starting point. What rear gears in the truck?

As far as 5 star tune don't expect better fuel economy about the same maybe a little better. It will wake the truck though, if you can spear the money for it IMHO it's worth it.

The best thing with a tune is the changes in shifting - it'll keep the tranny temps down when towing.

I know the oil was just changed since I got it from a dealership who seems to have done it based on the sticker in the windshield. Before I get into towing a car hauler I'm going to have the truck gone through by my mechanic to make sure if any fluids need changing and just general health of other items. I have no idea of what gears are in it but I presume the stock 3.73s (according to Ford Etis).

I may want to start a new thread with all the questions and other things I'll want to ask that aren't just about the tune.

Thanks. Sounds like it's also good for compensating for ethanol fuel which is good.

Had my tune for about a year now. Noticed a consistent .5 mpg increase but the payoff is in drivability! Love the tune, decided to have a couple tweeks done to my personal preferance and the guys at 5 star took care of it in less than 24 hours! One of the best customer experiences I have had in my 39 years! Thanks 5 star highly recommended
