4 speed overdrive transmission help

Does anyone have a toploader 4 speed OD out of their 80's full size Bronco with the transfer case removed and can make some measurements for me. I need to know how long the output shaft is at the splines and the diameter of the shaft ahead of the splines. I'm looking to have a shaft resplined and the 2 wheel drive shaft I have is necked down to far ahead of the present splines to respline to 28 spline. I believe the 31 spline 4X4 shafts are a greater diameter ahead of the present 31 splines and might work. Thanks.

Heya.

Just as a heads up, that's going to be very difficult information to come by. The SROD 4spd OD transmission in a 4x4 configuration is rather rare to begin with, and the chances someone has one disconnected for measurements, even less so. (Of course, possible, but unlikely).

They have a weak casing and have a tendency to break, so they discontinued them quickly (I think they're only in 80 - 83s), and are usually swapped out in favor of the stronger granny gear transmissions. I've only seen one or two others that have one besides myself, and have never seen one in a junk yard. When I had a trans shop work on mine, they couldn't even source some of the parts needed.

I have one out of a 2 wheel drive that has the top shifter. I had a 84 Bronco with a 300 that had a top shift 4 speed OD in it. I had seen a few in Pull a Part over the last few years. The SROD version had the shifter cast on the tail housing and I believe is a lighter duty as the top shifted truck version. I now they used them both on 2 and 4 wheel drive.

Oh they're definitely out there. I was meaning the chances that someone has one separated and able to measure for you is going to be very slim due to many being replaced or broken, and only used for a short time (and even less in 4x4 configuration).
Hope someone has it for you though.

I know I've had a tough time finding information about them.

However, they were mostly behind 300 I6s, and came in the F-trucks too, so you may want to post the question in those forums as well.
