Hi again all!

I just wanted to post a followup so here goes:

I went to my local Home Depot and looked for the best adhesive remover that I could find. Too bad their selection is terrible and there were only two options: Goof-off and some generic knock-off of it.

I purchased the Goof-off and started scraping away but the stuff was taking WAAAAAAAY too long. I started thinking up excuses for why it was working so poorly so I told myself that it will probably only remove the adhesive and leave the paint underneath intact... but I was wrong. Not only was it fairly ineffective but it still took the top layer of paint away with it.

I switched modes immediately. Abandoning any hope of saving the paint underneath, I worked with some stripper that I had on hand and the scraper.

I was able to eventually remove the bulk of it that way and then used sandpaper to remove the smaller bits until there was no longer any adhesive left. I will still have to go over it with finer grit paper so that I get a smooth surface to be able to paint it.

My only regret was that I was not patient or persistent enough to hunt down MEK and give that stuff a shot and also that I forgot to try heating it. Either way, it's now gone but I'm sure there is a better way to do it.

Now the next point of order is that hacked hole in my dash. I posted on that thread for the block-off plates and nobody was able to help me on it. I am going to start a new thread along those lines and see if anybody can help me out...
