Talking Chinese heads

I know that this is PROBABLY not a diesel question but then again....maybe.
I need new heads for my Ford Ranger do to possible cracks allowing coolant into the oil, yeah, I know lucky me.
Now the question: I have been shopping around and mostly all machine shops that I have contacted are using new castings from China. They claim almost zero problems, they do the machining and these new heads have been reinforced in the weak areas commonly found on the OEM heads. (The reason I need new ones) Plus, a years warranty.
So, my question is have any of you had any experience with Chinese castings? The price is quite reasonable which includes head bolts and all gaskets. Price on rebuilt OEM heads are almost the same w/o the gaskets, head bolts and Valves. Everything else in the USA seems to be from China. What say you?
Thanks,
Rog

Rog, Dont forget that we take all our good steel and send it to china.
Then when we buy steel, we buy their crappy steel from them.

I'd ask the machine shop if they are willing to stand behind it? If the part fails, will they machine the next one for free?

Yes, but they are using the good steel for buildings and stuff they plan to keep.

sounds like a great deal to me. bite the bullet and get over the whole "made in china" thing. you would probably have a hard time avoiding things made in places other than America. would you really buy the *****ty weak heads? sounds like it would cost more to go that route anyways. might as well get everything you need plus have stronger heads too. as long as the shop will stand behind it then I say WTF get the good ones

As much as I hate the Chinese takeover of America, they do make some pretty good stuff now. Remember all there stuff came from us. It's our own fault for allowing our companies to ship all there equipment overseas. It never ceases to amaze me that it is cheaper to make a part overseas and ship it halfway around the country. The company I used to work for had die cast electrical boxes made in China and with shipping they cost us less than 70 cents a piece, to have them made here twice the price WTF? Again our own fault (governments). Really wish I could buy more stuff made in the USA but that is easier said then done. Sorry for the rant.

I really don't think the Chinese is better quality than OEM, No Way. I don't think the Chinese have done any durability testing on their parts.

That's because the 9yr olds doing the work haven't been trained on the durability testing...

if you get it you will probably have a piece of our navy in your truck. Most of it was towed to China.

Seriously?

And there's no way anything from China is as good as the same product made in USA.
Yes, it's very tough to do, but if you make the effort you can still buy American. Almost everything I buy now I at least make the effort to see what product supports Americans.

We need to loose the attitude quoted above and take our country back.

Rog, I would go for a remanned American casting before I support China.

I can't think of a path to the oil from water from the heads . Intake coolant to C Case , block to C case (cracked) Heads usually end up water to combustion ...
