Does anyone here know what the ignition timing is supposed to be? My book has like 3 completely different ones listed under these calibration numbers and I have no clue what they are talking about. The truck is '79 ranger 4x4, 400 c.i. engine, manual transmission, edelbrock 1406 carb. Just trying to check timing. Thanks.
I would try two different timings. See how it runs with 8 degrees BTC and if it doesn't like that try 14 degrees BTC. see what you have the best power at. Which runs cooler. and gets the best mileage
My '77 CA truck agrees w/ the sticker presented @ 12* BTDC. Mine's not happy about shutting off at 12 so I run it at a conservative 8-10. Have to use a spark delay valve (white/black) to keep it from spark knocking at light-load-cruise.
