the truth is what you make of it and who gives it to you. by that i mean.......if you dont stand for something, you'll fall for anything.
Agreed. You are what I consider a minority. Problem being, many of his listeners seem to think he is the sole authority to be believed in any political issue. We all know this is BS. He's just another radio loudmouth. OH, and I do listen to him sometimes, and often, he does make some good points..
Well it was just an editorial, and a poorly written one at that. The author seems to have a hard time focusing on who our enemies really are. Condoleezza Rice has a tanker named after her and I don't
Originally posted by sparky franktheman this stuff is great reading. Just watch out I have seen movies where enlightened people "disappear" and we all know a lot of movies are based on fact
If you are talking about Marylyn Monroe od Vince Foster or ... that was a Democratic administration
Guilty of taking Money........in a court of law.....He admitted his mistake.....And , if taking money is (or was) a Crime.....every member of Congress would be in the Slammer. The issue here is ..Is that Basically you have a Wind Bag who has never , ever shed any of his own Blood in defense of this country disrepecting a man Who spent 5 or however many years in the Hanoi Hilton being tortued and starved for what he believed. ...He ,my friend has served his country with Honor and Pain. Mr. Ditto Head has Done neither and my Guess is....is that IF you PUT Him in the same conditions he wouldn't have the gonads to stay the course because all he knows how too do is Run his Mouth!!!!!fd
I wouldn't have any problem listening to Rush Limbaugh if he didn't slaughter his own credibility. If I were to take the Partisan Acid Test, I would be judged as a "conservative", most likely.
But then I try to listen to Limbaugh, and he takes the partisanship to such an extreme that I can't help but want to scream. He spends more time labeling people and ideas as "liberal", and he gets people to think that every idea or statemant made by a "liberal" is categorically incorrect and corrupt. Everything he disagrees with, he labels "liberal" and his ditto-heads fall in line.
That's an age-old tactic of the pundit to get people to agree with him. Label the opposition with a name, then use that name when you discuss reviled topics. Before long, all you have to do is associate anything with that name and people will automatically have a negative opinion of it. He is using psychology in his favor, and I don't fall for it, that's all.
BDV
Bdv , well said!...I don't pretend to have any objectivity for Mr. ditto ....He lost most of his political momentum when Clinton finally left office.......he is passe as far as i'm concerned.....I have a hard time even discussing Rush nor do i try to conceal the intense dislike that i hold for him.......Criticize JM Cain all you want on his politics...I don't have any problem with that......But , when you(not you personally) question his loyalty , his sincerety , or even Allude to anything of that nature then it's time to see who has been there to defend this country and who has just paid "Lip Service" to our defense..........fd
I can't believe it - I actually agree with BDG (there's hope for us all). I listen to Rushmo from time to time and appreciate his energy and zeal, but there are times when he is just dead wrong.

I'm not great in the subject of Engish, but if I had turned an assignment like that into my high school English teacher, I might never have graduated.
Now this is really strange...
"The terrorist attacks of Sept. 11 should have led us to reconsider our addiction to petroleum, but they didn't. A hundred years from now, historians will wonder why."
Now just what is she trying to say? I guess I'll have to ask those historians a hundred years from now.
I'm sure i owe somebody or a few of You'll an Apology for my little rant on Mr. Ditto . And , I'm not nieve as to the imperfections of J.McCain as to his arrogance , campaign contributions , Duplicity of what he says vs what he actually does. The intensity of my dislike for Mr.Ditto is rooted in the Memory that i have of the POW"s as they were stepping on the Tarmac after returning from North Vietnam. His diatribe about JMcC and all that followed not only was an insult to the Senator but it was also a Slap in the face of ALL who were imprisioned and returned home. If my rant on Mr.Ditto seemed just alittle beyond the Pale...well it was and I'm guilty as charged. I'll try to keep my rant's in the Normal range from now on.......fd
One should always bear in mind the following.
It's important to keep your loved ones close to your heart.
It's important to keep your enemies even closer.
I base my opinion of the senator on the stories of people I know and trust who served with him. I hear no good stories.

It seems to me in an effort to be original, or anti-"ditto head" you have all just jumped on a different but all the same band wagon. The media is very liberal, there is no hiding this fact. All of the polls that are taken are subjective because 7 out of 10 people that I have talked to (real people, not subjectively selected) all think that we are doing the right thing.
Saudi Arabia is not terribly liked by America, but is a key military outpost as well as one of our last suppliers of oil. Note, Venezuela has caused are prices to rise to what they are now, what happens if we lose another country? Yeah, exactly, then the author of the article will complain about that. We have made provisions of oil so that we won't be dependent on other countries if this becomes necessary but tell me why we should depleat our rescources when other countries are more than happy to sell us theirs? It is all a matter of politics and to be more than honest I don't believe anyone outside of the inner political circle can understand the full realm or scope of the decisions that are made by our president.
I personally just feel that this country has become soft because we haven't had a leader in many years who stood up for (right or wrong) in what he believed in. I feel that if everyone could get past his few grammatical "flub-ups" and realize he is an intelligent man, this nation could actually rally behind a leader who wants this country to prosper. I personally feel that he is looking more toward the future than president Clinton did. But, my opinions are just that.......opinions and no I don't listen to Rush, I don't get him in my area. I'm sure that my opinions are not whole heartedly based on fact because truth be known, none of us know all of the facts.
BTW President Bush just passed legislation to put even more restrictions on car companies. I believe it was another 1-2 mpg across the entire fleet? (can anyone back me up on this? I don't remember exactly) and he also pumped a lot of money into hydrogen fuel cell research. Perhaps he is an oil man, but my question is why spend so many billions of dollars to only make a fraction back in oil profits? I feel what we see in the media is a bunch of unfactually based political name calling......
I'm sure someone here will hate me for my thoughts...........but there they are.......
no one ever challenges my opinion (this is like the 10th time)...........WHY.................I want the chance to stick up for myself just once..............once!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Okay, the theory is that oilman Bush and friends will reap personal profits from an oil war, and the billion upon billions spent on the war and the rebuilding after the war are costs paid by America, the taxpayers. That is why it would make sense to start an oil war, from an oilman's perspective. Kind of a 'follow the money' way of looking at things. Kind of like it not making sense to put millionaire legal carreers on hold to get a low paying job as a senator or congressperson or whatever, yet our legislatures, certainly at the national level and increasingly at the local level, are heavily comprised of wealthy lawyers, of either party.
