My pyro guage that I bought in 2005 failed about a month ago. I was going to put a new one in being that it was out of warranty, but after all the money I've shelled out lately just couldn't afford it. I called their tech line and they said to send it in and they'll see what it will take to fix and price it accordingly. Almost two weeks have went by with no call from Autometer EXCEPT the UPS guy today drops off a brand new guage at no charge. What a way to stand behind your product!
I had my A/M fuel pressure gauge fail due to the heat from the bulb in the pod I think. They sent me a complete new one, including a new sensor and wiring. No charge.
I got a set of gauges from autometer about a week after i got my truck, e-mailed them and told them the trans temp gauge didn't have the sending unit with it and their response was "send me a picture of the gauge face and the address you'd like a new sender shipped" a week later i got a package from them in the mail with a new sender in it
Hmmm, mines been acting up as well. It's the gauge I'm sure over the wiring. I should give them a call. They are a good company.
I just checked my power and ground and resistance of the probe with the engine running. As I revved it up the resistance changed. Gave the numbers to the guy over the phone from A/M and he agreed with me that the guage was probably bad. Simple as that!

Why spend the money twice if you dont have to?
Thanks, reps sent. I will check the resistance when I get a chance. It only seems to act up when it's real cold out (10 degrees or below). But I do notice the gauge just go plain dead when it's warmer out and if I tap on it or pull it out and shake the gauge, it starts reading again. I checked all grounds, wiring etc. so it's not a loose wire. I haven't checked resistance.
