Ok so my fuel tank is right behind my seat. Not to thrilled about that.So im gonna dtich it and get me a 20 to 25 gal fuel cell. Now i got several places i could put this and several messurments and you can find just about any size fuel cell.So that being said my options are.1.In the bed up aginst the front wich is still close to the cab but NOT in the cab.2.ALong the inside of the frame on one side wich requires a verry long skinny fuel cell.3.Or behind the rear axle straped to the bottem of the bed, wich you could get away with more of "box" shape, sump it,and have a fuel door in the floor of the bed.Any one i choose im sure im going to have to get a bigger fuel pump or maybee even go electric just draw fuel from these distances.Im leaning more towards #3.If any one has any pics or susjestions please let me know this will be done by friday.Thank you
if you like the rear gas tank idea look at this topic. https://www.ford-trucks.com/forums/8...k-install.html
if you still want a fuel cell i have one with a turn up tub. if you want to take it off my hands. its 24x20x10.
i have dual tanks under the truck and it causes problems anytime you have it serviced and it needs to be put on a lift. it looks like instigators setup is the best.
I like the idea of the mustang tank being used I plan on adding a extra tank under my bed but would like to keep the spare tire I may just move it in the bed so I can put the tank in the rear you won't need a electric fuel pump as some of these trucks came stock with 2 tanks under the bed from factory and worked fine with the mechanical pump on the motor
hey instig8r is the fuel tank mounted low enough so you can put a flip down fuel filler tube behind the license plate and still be able to fill the tank to full? also do you have any pics you could post after its all complete with bed back on from the rear i'd like to see if its completely hidden or if you can notice it sticking down

The top of the tank is just about level with the top lip of the frame rails. In order to run the filler tube through the license plate, the tank would have to sit below the lower lip of the frame rail, decreasing ground clearance.
With the bumper in place the tank would almost be invisible:
Well im sold.Just bought a complete 1970 mustang fuel tank kit from the same place for 119.00+ship.Prob gonna sump the back thow.Does anybody know what the GPH are on our stock fuel pumps.Might need a little updrage to draw it from the back of a 8' bed.
Ohm parameters are exactly the same for the mustang sending unit.
I run a Holley 110GPH pump. Also, use 3/8" for your steel line up to the front steel line. I run a 100 micron fuel filter at the tank...
...and a 40 micron filter between the pump and the carb...
