Hey guys im looking for a way to level the front of my 72 F100.The back sits up way higher than the front.I plan on putting 15x8 up front and 15x10 out back with 33/12.50/15 off road tires.Any sugestions?
I assume you mean you want to raise the front end? You'll need to get a set of I beams that are designed to lift. Shouldn't be a problem if you get the correct parts.
Not really a good way to lift it using the stock components; people like to flip the I beams but that isn't any good for a street driven vehicle because it sets the inclination of the king pins in the wrong direction and throws the handling out the window.
Thats ok a good alighnment will fix that.I was just wondering if they make a kit.If not im a metal fabricator and could make one of my own.
Not that easy.
Caster - need to lower the back of the radius arms, or have them modified.
Camber - need to bend the I beams (absolutely not advised by an alignment shop)
Ok well what about adding air bags in the spring?Ive done this to my 04 cobra to lift the rear for the track and add more traction and get rid of wheel hop.
Autofab Offroad Trucks has the stuff to do it right. Putting bigger springs in or coil spacers will increase camber and decrease caster. The more caster you have, the less tendency to wander. Good luck.
well thank you for all the great advise.Includeing buying a 4x4?.But seeing as how they dont make a kit to do just 2 inches i will make one.
You will not be happy with the result. Why not just use the 3" from autofab (sorry I first said FabTech) they bend the I beams to compensate for camber and caster and you will still have a semi stock handling truck. autofab 3" front lift
750.00????for only 3"..Thats steep. From looking at the truck i see where i can just build drop down brackets to compensate for the lift.I just want the front level with rear.

I guess I do not understand what your quandry is... The front of these trucks are 40 years old and not infinitly adjustable and thus due not lend well with change. You have three choices, 1) Spend the $750 to buy a product intended to replicate the original geometry and acheive your goals. 2) Hack the front end up yourself and see where you end up, costing more in work and worn parts down the line. 3) Leave it alone and drive it.
Well seeing as how i bought the truck as something to tinker with. And that im a metal fabricator/chassis builder i will just hack the front end up myself and see where i end up.If i can build a rail car and tube chassis.Im pretty sure i can handle the front of a 40 year old truck.
