The tachometer in my '91 is off, I noticed it right after I started driving it several weeks ago. I verified it with an inductive tach. At 2000 rpm actual the dash tach reads 3000. I verified that the cluster is for an 8 cylinder, tried another tach unit from different cluster with same results. I baffled at the moment, need more input. Any ideas?
The tach signal is driven by the PIP sensor and ICM wiring at the distributor. I don't have my wiring reference here at work so I can't give you anything more specific than that at the moment.
If you recall, I changed the ICM last month because of error code. No srvc engine light yet,but should check for continuos error codes, just because I can. There was no change in the tach function then till now, not elimanating it though.
