I have a 2005 Ford F150 with 5.4L. Recently experienced major engine trouble. Oil pressure bottomed out and very rough idle.
I started the truck last week, rough idles at low rpm. I raised the engine rpm and it smooths out. After the motor heats up it will stop, not stall, stop. I figure this is the rear main bearing seizing, it will re start after it cools down. Replacing this is not my worry, but why the drop in oil pressure. Any suggestions will be appreciated
It shouldn't have sludged up if the oil was changed at 5K intervals. Not saying it didn't, but it shouldn't have.
Let us know what you find out.
Thats what I was thinking, my son drove it for several months and may have skipped getting it changed regularly. Either way, just a few misses shouldnt have sludged it up. I purchased a salvage motor to swap out. I am going to rebuild the other one. i will let you know what i find.
I have always had good luck with every Ford I have ever owned. On my 8th Ford truck, this is the worst problem I have ever had, asided from routine service.
