I know i will have alot of questions as i get into the truck in the months to come.
Trailered her home on Sunday. QUESTION
I have a key hole in the passenger door but no key hole in the drivers door - nor a key slot on the push button on the drivers door.
Are these doors off of different year trucks or is that correct? QUESTION
doors have bigger gap on bottom than top on cab side. is this due to rusted out cab supports or something else?
Thanks
Passenger side key lock is stock. drivers side did not have a key. You locked the truck and slid out the pass door and locked it with the key. Someone figgured it was safer that way. Sagging doors can be caused by worn hinges, rusted hinge supports (usually lower) or mis aligned doors. I think the large gap at the top can be adjusted by pushing the top of the door inward. After you check the hinge and rust issue. I roll down the window, open the vent window and put a piece of 2x4 in the door jamb...then gently push on the top or the door. Don't over do it!
that answers that question. thanks guys.
anyone else on why bottom front of doors have larger gaps than tops?
i still think it is rusted cab mounts. hinges seem to be fine and back edge of doors appear to be very uniform with rear of cab - as far as gaps
I haven't seen it but my vote would be for the front cab mounts also. They are designed to catch all the slop off the road. You can put 2X4's vertically under the shelf on the firewall and lift them up with a couple of hydralic jacks untill the doors are square.
thanks dragginwagon. got under it a week or so again - no doubt.
got it running good now, mechanical issues getting corrected, cab mounts in the near future. then bed repair and floor panels. straight old truck. runs good stays true on the road.
