Sorry read about your accident. They are never fun, any way you look at it.
My Volvo slid down the steep driveway, and hit a rock at about 20-25 mph. Airbags deployed, etc. I have gone down this driveway for many years with all kinds of vehicles (some with bald tires) -- uncontrollable slide like this never happened. My vans were the most cumbersome vehicles, since they would not turn them easily. But they never lost control.
I learned -- do not use Continental runflat tires in the snow. After the collision, someone told me that runflats are not supposed to be used when temperature is less than 32 F. Expensive POS.
Wow. A Volvo? Dem ain't cheap! I knew a fella once that lived on the top of this very steep hill. He had a great view, but getting up to and down from his house was a tricky proposition. Not only was his drive very steep, but it was gravel and had a 90* turn in it. One day, as he was navigating his very steep driveway, his truck started sliding, ended up sliding sideways, and finally rolled over a few times til it came to rest at the bottom of the hill. No injuries, but his truck was totalled. At the time, I had an '85 E350 church type van that I thought for sure would do the same thing every time I went to visit him.

To be honest, I have been afraid of my high-tops rolling over -- I have my neighbor's driveway that Tees off my own. So when I go up, sometimes I spin out. I back into his driveway, turn around and put the nose down and go down. This is all in a steep climb. On that turn maneuver I have been afraid of roll-over, but never did with the vans. This car just slid down like a rock, and did not take any commands. I bought it last summer as a beater, LOL.
