Boston?!? I don't know who told you that it might be a 302 Boston, but I'd strongly suggest not talking to that individual about your truck any more. Your engine is from the Windsor family, period. All 302's are. Boston doesn't have anything to do with Ford engines. Boston doesn't have anything to do with Ford Motor Company at all other than maybe a couple dealerships. As for those numbers, I can't make out what they say. Can you read them and type them out here instead?
I mad a previous thread regarding what size engine I had. I'm now sure it's a 302 but some say windsor and other's say boston.
I have some numbers of the headers and manifold I managed to scrape off and take a photo of
Anyone know?
I'm going to go out on a limb here and say they mean "Boss" not "Boston."
In order to tell by a picture, we need to see the whole top of the engine. We need to see the intake and valve covers.
Edit: I checked the pics in your gallery, it's not a Boss, it's a regular 90 degree V block. It looks like it could have 289 heads, hard to be sure from the picture.

Here is the best pictures I can get, it's a dirty engine.
When he said Boston I looked at him like he was an idiot but said thanks. I'm really happy to know it's a 302, not a bad engine. Once i get ballsy enough I'll have to upgrade the inside parts, wouldn't know where to start but I'm hoping I can push about 350-HP out of this bad boy.

Yeah I hear you frustation on that, it's been fun listening to nonsense that's why I come here to the Guru's
I really can't make out what te top of the manifold says, maybe after I take it off and put in the wash I'll be able to finally read it
The header's I can only make out this C60E- 61-F the numbers before 61 are not readable and google doesn't know cars like you guys.

My plan is to have this truck look like this
I saw this on a f100 website and then again this morning, it will take around 2 years to complete it all but I have to make this engine purr sooner than later
You can get 350 hp on motor, but it will take some good heads, intake, cam, carb, and headers. Its all about the combination and everything matching well.
That's what the plan is, on edelbrocks website they have the power graph that shows with all of the listed items you mentioned it's a little more than 350hp so I'm hoping it will work out to that.
I'm going with a 302 in my 51. I'm gonna rebuild (hopefully) soon. I have a set of gt40p heads off of a 97 mercury mountaineer I'm going to put on it. They are said to be the best stock "flowing" windsor head ford ever made due to its design. I'm on a budget so thats why I went with these. I'll have shorty headers, weiand stealth intake, 600cfm edelbrock carb, still have to choose a cam but I'm pretty sure I know which one I will pick. I want to drive the truck everyday so I want it to be efficient you know. Hopefully with all the research I've done I should have an easy 300hp on motor.

Once I know everything about the motor I have I plan to swap out the heads and redo the cams also. I'm on a budget also, I plan to out 500 a month aside and work on it with those funds, from what I'm reading it will take about 2 years from weekend working
Just a thought on your 302.
Mine is a 1976 truck engine. It's been bored and rebuilt. Not a hot rod engine at all. I have a 3.55 rear end and will burn the tires way longer than I am inclined to hold it down and get kinda squirrely going into second. A 302 with 350 HP would be way more than necessary but might be fun. It would require some work on the rear end to stop the wheel hop and tire spin.
I would recommend you ride with someone that has a 55 running a 302 and see if you actually want to spend the money on a 302 to build it to that HP range.
I have a 2400 lb 1970 Cord with a 475 HP 440 Chy.and it is not nearly as much fun to drive as the 55 due to the high HP and low weight on the Cord you have to be pretty careful with it or it will get away from you in a hurry.
It's your truck build it like you want and enjoy it.
Just another point of view.
Since your truck has a "Boston", engine, does it have "Red Shocks"? HaHa! If I had any kind of engine that was a "Boston", I would yank it out of there so fast your head would spin. I'm a Yankee fan! LOL

HAHA I knew posting some crazy BS would come back to bite me! I'm just going to call it a " 302 Mystery" so add that to the many motor's ford made!
yeah no kidding!!! If it was I would be buying the top of the line products and making it a dream but I'm happy with having a running motor! Hell I'll even settle for three midget's pushing it from inside the hood if I can ride in it
