Anybody have the part number for the flywheel bolts on 1988 7.3 with a c6 auto tranny. Broke one tonight changing out flywheel / flex plate they are 3/8 16 grade 8 1.875 long the trick is they have a 5/8 head instead of 9/16. Ford or IH number either one is good for me.
Ford part number for the automatic flywheel to crank bolt it E3TZ6379B.
They are obsolete but some dealers still have them. And yes I can buy 3/8 - 16 grade 8 bolts. But these use a 5/8 head instead of a 9/16 head I know it is not much but I like them all to match. So either replace them all or find the right one. Got lucky and the dealer in the town 20 miles away had some in stock.
Take one to Fastenal and get a grade 9. I sheared all of my OEM bolts after I replaced the engine in my ambulance chassis (overtorqued them). Replaced them w/Grade 9 for less than I could get Gade 8 from Lowes.
