dying problem

This 79 starts and runs good. It will sit and idle but when you give it throttle too fast it chokes out and dies. If I put the throttle on slow it may cut out once or twice but it powers through and runs stong with no misses. Any ideas on where to start with this? Vaccum leak or ??

I think you're on the right track, you could also check and clean the carburetor.

My 79 did the same thing. It ended up being the acellerator pump.

I just put a new one of those in the other day. It starts and idles better now but still misses if you get on it hard.

Warm it up and while the engine is hot check timing. Could easily be a combination of timing and carb settings.
