Exhaust

Has anyone changed out their own exhaust? If so are there any tips that I might want to know prior to doing it?

Hang everything loosly in place and fit up .........then tighten afterward from front to rear so you can make it fit correctly

Putting the MBRP exhaust on my Excursion was the easiest exhaust I've ever done.

Having a second set of hands to help with the downpipe was a blessing.

How loud is it inside? I have run exhaust sytems on pick ups before, but am worried about the noise inside the cabin of an excursion.

Barely noticeable.

I was quite disappointed it wasn't louder when I put it on, but then I'm used to my 5.0 with Flowmasters and an offroad H pipe and my Lightning with long tubes, Bassani, and no cats.

well......all went fine until I got to the tail pipe. The pipe would not fit, it hits not only the rear strut but also the tire. I think they put the wrong set of tail pipes in the kit. Has anyone else had this happen to them?

Hmmmm, you can't adjust the whole line from front to back to make sure your have it fitting in the most optimal manner so as to clear the strut and tire?

nope, tried everything, it just will not clear the rear. I think the bends are off. I do not know what I am going to do now, I cut the stock stuff off and can not re-weld it back. I also tore a orange circular pyramid looking piece from the rear suspension, any one know what that is for?

Where did you get your exhaust? What kind is it?

As for the piece you tore off, post a picture of it and provide a more precise location from where it came and I'm sure someone will chime in.

I believe you are talking about the bumper (bump stop pad)
Where are you from I have a stock exhaust sitting here.
Or
I ran my dumped right before the muffler for a long time just buy a turn down for it. Until you can get the right one for it.

I'd like to know if there is a power and mpg difference with the MBRP 4" system. I have the same vehicle and have been thinking about upgrading sometime in the future.
