I was wondering if anyone had tryed to gut out the first cat, and completley took out the 2nd one. I was thinking about doing this very hard, and i would like to here some input from you guys, and any ideas you all might have about this, even if you havent done it. Thanks

 

I have the same basic truck. I'm gonna gut the first cat and put a high flow second cat. This is the approach everyone seems to use. If i didn't have emissions testing, I'd do what you want to do.

 

I don't have a second cat, but I gutted my only one, and the sound got a little beefier. Although, with the inspections, a little trick i tried, and it worked amazingly, change out your plugs just before your inspection, and you should pass the emissions test. i'm not saying it WILL work for you, but it did for me.

 

instead of going thru the hassel of all that, arvin makes a replacemnt pipe with a highflow cat, 200 bucks or so. the cat is sereate from the head pipe so you can delete that if you want part # 28989
