thermostat question
on the thermost housing on my 460 I have two vacuum hookups and I don't know what they are I know i need to buy a better book I have a haynes but it is not enough info for what i am doing Oh yeah i need to mention that the 460 is out of a '72 lincoln with upgrades to go in my '77 F150

First off - we're all here to help each other, but you really need to slow down and use some punctuation and general sentence structure. If it takes people several tries to make out what you're saying, you're not going to get the help you need.
The vacuum ports you're talking about are probably part of a ported vacuum switch (PVS). This is used to shut off or turn on vacuum to something based on the temperature of the engine coolant. The most common use was to shut off vacuum to the EGR valve until the engine warms up.
