Overdrive Button Question

I have a 94 F150 with O/D tranny. How do I remove the O/D button from the shift lever? Mine is broken and I need to go the salvage yard to get one. Will need to remove from the shifter without breaking this one and putting it back on my truck without breaking it.
Thanks for the help on this question.

Once you get the cover off the column you will be able to see a pin that is holding the shift lever on. You can take a small hammer and tap the pin up and then grab it at the top and pull it out. Be sure you disconnect the OD wiring where it plugs in on the door side of the column. Really is pretty easy to get the lever off.

Never replaced the button itself. I think you can order one for around $10. It is a special order part at AutoZone for $12.99

The little ring on the outside pops off and u then can pull the button out. It wouldn't hurt to get a extra ring while your at it they break sometime when removed. Least u just have a button to replace when I bought my truck someone had broke the plastic handle off completely, and cut the wires. I had to get a whole new lever button and ring.
