retard timming?
how could one retard the timming on 1991 f-150 v8 with least tools.thank you.

[updated:LAST EDITED ON 01-11-03 AT 09:41 AM (EST)]Run the engine until it is at operating temp. Loosen the bolt for the distributor clamp. Pull the spout jumper out and connect a timing light. You will probably need to clean the crankshaft vibration balancer to see the timing marks, I use a Scotchbrite pad myself. Fire up the truck and turn the distributor for the desired timing. Shut off the engine and tighten down the clamp. Recheck timing after the clamp is tight to verify nothing changed. Put the spout back in.
