Well first off it has been a long time since i have been on here been kind of busy trying to get a job. so Thanks to FTE for being here for all us truck people. right on thanks in advance you all rock.
So i am thinking about straight piping my new 03 stroker, i just do not know any exhaust places here in texas and wondering if does any good becasue my 95 when i straight piped it it made a world of diff. so yeah anybody know where a exhaust shop is near royse city texas that i can buy exhaust from cheap, and also is it worth it?
when I did a straight pipe on my 03 ex, it lasted ONE trip and the noise and drone drove us nuts.... yes, sounded ok around town and low rpm's but on the road or at high boost and it was an obnoxious attention getter.... and from some i didn't want the attention of
opted for a full turbo back for the 03 Ex, but got a $65 lifetime warranty walker BTM for the 05 EX and love it...
sample sound file in my signature... best of both worlds, good flow and good rumble...
My truck is straight piped. Sounds great and you cannot tell at highway speeds. Even with the windows up it is very tame. It has a nice growl with my foot in it.
In regards to yours. Since it is an 03, it will sound very different. Yours will have a very pronounced turbo whistle. It will sound like a F-16.

Believe me, since his is an 03 it will be notably louder than yours or mine. On a long trip that gets old real fast. I love the sound of the 03's at the lower RPM's though, there's no sound sweeter to my ears
lol thx guys i will just straight pipe it then i did like the sound of my buddies 6.0 but he never tiold me if it made a diff or not so thank you for the imput.
I am planning on doing the same thing. I too have an 03' stroker. Do they become like insanely loud or is it just "noticeable" to the point I may get pulled over? Also what will going from a factory pipe to straight pipe do for the truck in detail. More hp? more mpg? more torque?
What is a good straight pipe to get, not the cheapest or most expensive but more than adequate for an 03'? And what kind of price are we talking for the pipe + labor?
An 03 turbo can be pretty loud. MBRP makes systems where you can exchange the cat and/or muffler with bolt in straight pipes. The cat sucks up most of the sound.
I didnt notice any hp or fuel economy improvements! My truck does scream like a OLD muscle car now though. (like a Big Block on alcohaul turning 9 grand) Mine is a 06 so my turbo whistle isnt too ignorant! O I noticed only slightly lower egt's. O mine is a mbrp turbo back with muffler!
