no cat is a federal offense.....
look in your owners manual ---- $10,000 is possible.... not probable, but more risk than I wanted to take for the limited benefit of taking the cat off....
(fyi- some older member tested before and after cat removal and noticed marginal differences other than noise )

In North Carolina I get inspections every year with the inspector ONLY checking lights. They never check exhaust.
I run the MBRP cool duals, When I installed the kit I looked at the muffler, you can see right through it! No restriction, just sound modification.
Inside the truck I get a nice roar that is not annoying. At WOT the truck is really loud. Sounds great. You can always pick a Ford out by the roar, they have a distinctive sound.
Mine is a 2003 and the turbo sound is like a 747 winding up for take-off

a 2003 straight piped sounds like a airplane taking off as OneTon4Fun said.
friend of mine had his 2003 straight piped. was nice until he got married and kids. also on long rides it would kinda get annoying (the screech i mean). but man i could hear him long time before i ever saw him coming down the road.
