they shouldn't be that hard. I've done both mine several times. twice on the side of the hyway
they just need to be lined up straight. a long pair of needle nose pliers to get down to the line makes it easier. keep trying

You can make a removal tool pretty easily. Here is a video I did on how they are removed in case you didn't remove the lines from the fittings.
