Please help me I have a2000 f150 5.4 got a code po356 ignition coil f primary/secondary circut malfunction.can someone tell me what that is.where to look.thanks
It is cylinder #6, second from tjhe front on the driver side.
Easy to get at.
Make sure the plug is on the coil first, then if so the primary/secondary winding may be 'open' as verified with a ohmmeter test. If yes replace the coil. Actual resistance means very little.
Rare, but if this does not find the issue, the harness is open or the computer driver for that cylinder could be faulty.
There is no more to it. The computer has reported the fault accuratly by code #.
Good luck.

You could save yourself a bunch of heartaches by testing before you go spending money on a bunch of parts. Get a small 12 VDC light bulb like a dash light bulb that has wire leads that can be pulled out and spread. Pull the connector off of the cylinder in question and plug the leads of the bulb into the two contacts on the plug. With the engine on, this "NOID" light should flash. One side of the connedtor should show continuous power which can be verified with just a test light. If you have 12 VDC on one side and your NOID light doesn't flash you either have a harness to PCM issue or a bad coil trigger in the PCM. If you test the wire from the cylinder back to the PCM plug and it tests open you have a broken wire somewhere. If it tests good and you don't show a short to ground then your coil driver in the PCM is bad. If your NOID light is in question, try it on another cylinder. You will see that it flashes there. If your NOID light shows good activity and no problems in wiring, THEN change your coil on.

Reason: P0356 is in primary circuit. It's not telling you the coil is bad. It's getting no drive.
